Dr. Gregory W. Yasinitsky has been on the faculty at WSU since 1982. During his twenty-five years at WSU, he has created an extensive body of musical compositions and arrangements which are widely published and performed all over the world, including the United States, Canada, and more than 30 countries on six continents.
More than 140 musical works by Dr. Yasinitsky have been published by companies including Belwin Jazz, Hal Leonard, Kendor Music, Advance Music (Germany), and others. Additionally, Dr. Yasinitsky is the recipient of the 2005 Edward R. Meyer Distinguished Professorship Award, the 2004-05 College of Liberal Arts Faculty Achievement Award, and the 1989 William F. Mullen Award for Excellence in Teaching from the College of Liberal Arts.
Dr. Yasinitsky has also led the WSU Jazz Studies Program to national prominence. It is typical for Dr. Yasinitsky’s students, undergraduates and graduates, to receive professional recognition and awards.
Dr. Yasinitsky’s professional contributions in teaching, mentoring, music creation, music performance, and program leadership represent the University at the highest levels of professional distinction.
